Well done to our barman Krisztian on coming 2nd in the Rare Tea Company's cocktail competition.
As part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations they welcomed people to create a cocktail using their tea. He has worked so hard over the last 2 months to create his "The Last Witch" cocktail, a stunning mix of botanicals, Blackwood's Gin and of course Rare Tea Company's Earl Grey tea. We're so pleased his hard work has been rewarded, well done Krisztian.
Heres the recipe:
50ml Earl Grey infused Blackwoods Gin
25ml apple juice
20 ml feshly squeezed lime juice
15 ml rosemary syrup (Sugar syrup infused with fresh rosemary)
Pinch of chopped ginger
Mint, Rosemary and cucumber
Place the cucumber, mint and rosemary in a rocks glass and pour crushed ice over
Cut 3 pieces of lemongrass about 1cm each, chop some ginger. Put the mint, lemongrassa and pinch of ginger in the shaker. Pour over the rosemary syrup and lime juice. Muddle the ingredients. Add the tea infused gin and apple juice.
Shake everything with ice and pour it over the pre-prepped glass.
This is quite a complex tea cocktail with the overall flavour being more herbal than fruity but very refreshing, and tasty due to the fresh botanical ingredients.
After much deliberation, the cocktail was named after Isobel Gowdie. Isobel was the last witch in Scotland who was trialled during the witch hunt in the 16th Century and she appears in alot of folklores.
We are all going to miss the cocktail tasting sessions!
